First of all let me thankyou for visiting my website!

This website is dedicated to my practice as a holistic therapist, I have studied and qualified in many disciplines including ayurveda, reflexology, and massage. I have also studied and practised reiki for many years and am a master/teacher in the Usui/Tibetan discipline.

I will soon be relocating to the Lutterworth area in Leicestershire where I will be available for mobile treatments. More specific details coming soon.

My enthusiasm and passion for tried and tested natural remedies has grown over the years. My desire to offer people alternative remedies once conventional medicine has failed them has led me to gain a professional certification in alternative health. I currently hold a first class  BSc honours degree in complementary medicine (Ayurveda).

My mission is quite simple; as well as caring for everyone I meet and introducing them to ayurveda it is fundamentaly to make these therapies available to absolutely everyone, regardless of gender, class, race or religion. My affordable prices in no way reflect the quality of service you will receive, I will always offer you far more for your money and deliver a service that is extremely professional and informative. I am proud to belong to possibly only a select few therapists in Cyprus that have trained to a degree standard. My studies previously included advanced anatomy and physiology, pathology and clinical diagnosis.

I encourage the use of other complementary medical practices as I myself also practise reflexology and reiki, though these therapies alone, like most others, only require a basic understanding of anatomy and physiology to qualify and they should be used for relaxational and complementary medical benefits only. They do not offer alternative remedies to conventional medicine. If your therapist should offer you health advice concerning a medical ailment, it should be taken lightly as quite often mistakes can be made.

As alternative and complementary health in the western world continues to grow, so do the amount of therapies available. The UK government are slowly working towards acceptable standards and qualifications in order to protect the public. Currently osteopathy and physiotherapy have been accepted into the health system and should take three to four years study at degree level; western herbalists, ayurvedic medicine, acupuncture and traditional chinese medicine are expected to be regulated and controlled within the health system by the house of lords soon, and will then also require degree standard training. Aromatherapy can also be studied to a degree level, though other complementary medicine will fall into a lower category as these do not prescribe medicines and the therapists will not be allowed to diagnose or prescribe under law, currently therapists are free to abuse their boundaries, and unfortunately some do!

Rest assured prices should not reflect the professional standards of the therapist, if you find other therapies that demand higher prices this is merely the choice of the therapist, it does not prove their ability and competance to deliver a service. Be aware there are therapists practising untrained, if you are unsure about the most suitable therapist for your needs, ask them to show you their qualifications, this way you can feel more at ease with your choice. Please note that unqualified masseurs have been known to deliver a fatal massage, it is these people that create a poor reputation for those of us that have taken the time to understand the therapies we are delivering.

Finally please feel free to browse my website, I believe I have the upper edge in reflexology and reiki, as my advanced training allows me to discuss your ailments and concerns at a greater depth. I will always reccomend that you consult your GP first however if you should have any serious health issues.

The Knowledge of Life is the english translation of the word Ayurveda. Ayurveda is from the ancient vedas, Ayus= Life and Veda= Knowledge. This ancient knowledge was passed down for thousands of years using mantras (songs/rhymes) so that it would not be forgotten, the earliest written evidence is believed to be dated back over five thousand years, though Ayurveda is believed to be over ten thousand years old! The philosophy of Ayurveda is based on the five great elements, it is only from them that everything in the world can exist. These are space/ether, wind, fire, water and earth. Through observation the ancient knowledge was noted and passed down through the generations, it is fascinating to learn that modern medical problems such as diabetes was talked about even then!

Sometimes modern medicine has no answer to complicated health issues, though the understanding of one self and the knowledge of self-balance is all is needed to unravel the complicated web of imbalance we often spin for ourselves.  Ayurveda is not just about dietary habits, it explores the way we live, conduct our daily lives and considers the thoughts and actions we are responsible for.

Summer May-28-2011

Namaste! Summer is now with us after a rather cool and prolonged spring!

Summer is the time of year for the Pitta dosha which is the elements of fire and a little water. On humid days we may find this dosha on the increase and therefore must be aware of the alarm bells ringing. As fire is responsible for transformation it is particularly associated with all of our major organs that transform. These include the heart and the digestive fire. Pitta increases at the hottest part of the day, so 1 p.m. is not a good time to have a heated discussion as tempers may rise! Remember to drink eight glasses of water a day to avoid dehydration, as this may result in kidney stones which are rather painful and unpleasant.

Foods to favour during this time are all the cooling foods so coconut is a good choice as well as fresh lime juice. All other citrus fruits are heating and therefore a glass of fruit juice is not a favourable choice if you are complaining of insect bites or heat rash / sunburn, this will just irritate them even further. Take time to relax to avoid high blood pressure and try burning either flower oils such as rose or lavender or my personal favourite sandalwood which has an extremely cooling effect on the mind and body.

High pitta symptoms may include irritable skin, indigestion, high blood pressure, anger and profuse sweating. If these should occur, take my advice and cool down in the shade, a cool shower may also be welcomed. Pranayama is a breathing exercise which is also useful for balance and cooling.

Generally all of my treatments are suitable for this time of year to help you relax, reiki is especially calming or a soothing massage using calming and cooling oils is also well received.

Enjoy your summer, and feel free to contact me for any advice!
